Poplar or Black Cottonwood offers us incredible medicine. I love the annual winter ritual of gathering fresh Poplar buds from fallen branches (I do not harvest from living trees). For millennia, people have been using the sticky orange resin as medicine and for good reason.
Hildegard von Bingen liked working with Poplar for the anti-inflammatory and analgesic (aka pain relieving) properties. If you have sore muscles and joints, this salve has your back. Black Cottonwood is also known to be antiseptic, antimicrobial, expectorant (helps clear mucus), and also helps with wound healing. Apply it on cuts and scrapes or rub it on your chest when feeling congested. Bonus: Poplar also smells amazing.
There are no essential oils in this salve.
